Hi My SIL has a desktop PC with Vista Home Premium on it , and I want to do a search for items on his PC , traces of old programs etc,
the search box in the start column only seems to link to the net, I read some where that you just typed in the box and hit Enter but that does not work either.
I am up to date with XP, but need some help with this.
We removed office 2007 but I want to do a system search to clean out any leftover traces.
    Thanks Des.

You mean just running the Windows Installer Cleanup utility

    And running CCleaner
And then once all the temp files are gone, then running the Registry button in CCleaner (scan and Fix all) as well

    ?

Yes that should do it :)

For searching, open Start -> Computer then drill down to the folder you want (so say, Program Files), type in the Search box in the top right-hand corner.
