Search results not concluding

I have a strange problem which is driving me mad. On a couple of web sites when doing a search for example for available flights the search window keeps churning a way saying it is looking but a result never comes up. This happens on all 3 of my PCs but not with my iPad Touch. It also happens with IE8.
I have tried anti virus and anti malware scans, deleting all cookies and the cache to no avail. It also happens trying to find a location on Mappy but works fine with ViaMichelin!
Any ideas?

 

I have seen this behavior using IE-8 on Vista. I have thought it was a bug and was subsequently fixed by Windows Update. I have also thought it was the website not being compatible with IE-8.
Suggestions:
Make sure you are up todate, try a different browser on the site in question, try compatability mode in IE-8
