search for computer/printers

hi,

in windows XP you could do a search for computer or printers and have the ability to type a IP address then do a search on it.

In Windows 7 I can't find that old feature.

if you use the 'search programs and files' its not the same.

help.

Please explain what you are trying to do, then we might be able to help.

 

if you click on 'computers' option you can type an newtork IP address to a shared Pc lets say that has a shared drive.
these types of searches will list devices if you know the IP that are not on a domain type enviroment.

 

I'm still not 100% clear on what you are trying to do, but this might help.

To locate other computers on a Network you need to use Network & Sharing Centre available from the Control Panel.
