Yesterday a friend sent me an e-mail containing a link to an on-line video. The link opened the site's display of the video OK but I couldn't get the video to run. The video has an .htm extension. I forwarded the link to a few other people and they were able to get the video to play, and one of them suggested I try opening the link in IE. It worked!

Why won't SeaMonkey play that video, or maybe more useful, what can I change in SM's configuration so it will be able to play videos of that type? (I'm running Windows 7 and SM 2.0.3.)

Who knows without having that link?
By the way, videos do not use a .htm extention, although it may be a page which contains the video.
In other words, provide some info.

As you, probably, know some websites have not bothered making their content readable correctly by either Firefox or Seamonkey, so an addon must be used. The Coral IE Tab addon does, exactly, that. I have it in Seamonkey and Firefox. . It uses the IE engine in the programs mentioned, and, generally, it works fine

    BOBBO,
I installed the win med player plugin for FF and it plays the video just fine in FF, although I got an alert from windows firewall that it was blocking some parts of the web page.

I just downloaded and installed the Coral IE Tab add-on and rebooted, opened SeaMonkey and then that e-mail, and again the video wouldn't play. Opened IE8, opened the e-mail there and the video played without my having to do anything. I checked SM > Help > About Plugins and found the plug-in to be listed there, so why doesn't the video play in SM yet?

    Bmoore1129: I don't have FF, just IE8 and SM.

I had Coral IE Tab installed, and I could see the video. What did you do, beside installing the addon. You must left click on the "firefox" icon to change the engine. The icon may be either on the Menu(top) or Status toolbar. After clicking on the icon, it will change to the IE (e) icon, and you will see it in the left hand side of the Navigation toolbar (the url bar).
Each addon works for the program in which it is installed, so the existence of Firefox is not necessary.

When I downloaded the file to a Temporary folder, I had to select which program I wanted to have open that file, and I specified SeaMonkey. After running the installation I had to reboot. When I tried playing the video again and it didn't run, I checked SM's Help > About Plugins and saw Coral IE Tab listed there. That's all I remember doing.

At what point am I supposed to do that -- during installation or when trying to get that video to play? I don't remember seeing a FF icon at any time. When I'm looking at the e-mail message itself and then the Web site where the video is, I'm in SM, not FF. No FF icon there, either.

LATER: I finally figured it out. In SM, the FF icon is in the lower right-hand corner, near the clock. I right-clicked on it, then Settings, then a window opened where I added the URL for the Web site, and then clicked OK and Apply and exit. It works! Thanks for the help.

Left clicking does the job for me. In fact, if you mouseover the icon, you should have have three choices. The top ones is :left click to switch rendering engine. The only setting which is permanent is for Windows Update. I, rarely use the addon for anything else.
By the way, the Firefox icon would be to the right of the status bar, unlike Firefox were I have a bunch of other stuff in the status bar.
