seamonkey new message not opening

It's been fine for the six months I've been using it but a week ago suddenly hitting new message brought a blank screen. Incoming still fine. This is my first post and I am a real novice in terms of competencen so not too many long words please. As background I switched to seamonkey from outlook express because it would apparently without cause suddenly eat chunks of my inbox and outbox history (not at the same time).
Any suggestions most gratefully received.

I don't know if it will fix your problem, but a few days ago SeaMonkey came out with a new version, 2.0.9. Have you downloaded and installed it?
