When I go to PREFERENCES, MAIL & NEWSGROUPS. COMPOSITION, and select a default font, it will then let me begin typing with my choice. If I stop to make a correction etc, it always wants to do VARIABLE WIDTH. Very annoying, any ideas?

    Ken, For what it's worth -- !!

I've had the same or similar problem with all version of SeaMonkey and I have been using SM since Version 1.5

My normal default setting is for an ARIAL font and large.

The default setting usually drops out for me when replying to other messages or something like that and not necessarily when I stop but, maybe when I hit enter and move down a line.

Fact is, it happens so randomly I don't know exactly when it occurs.

I have found no solution except when it drops out is to go back and start typing a few characters (letters) inside my default text and then hit ENTER a few times to keep a few characters of my default text head of my typing and I will be alright and then I have to delete the default text I am keeping ahead of in my typing.

Like you stated. It is rather annoying but, it is how I continue my message and go on down the road. I don't know what else to do.

Another quirk of SeaMonkey is, it will be all typed nice and pretty in my default setting of ARIAL and Large with my default set to send in TEXT and HTML and some times that drops out to small text after you hit the SEND button.

Because it has a habit of doing that about 10 percent of the time, I have the habit on all messages of clicking on OPTION-FORMAT and selecting Plain and Rich (HTML) Text which I should not have to do. But, that is the only way I am assured of my message being sent in my chosen default font.

    Cheers, Ray

Thanks for confirming that I am not or we both are crazy. I will try typing a period first and then the text ahead of it.
