I have a 1TB, Seagate, Sata drive from a Direct TV receiver.

My question is can this be used and formatted for Windows 7?

    Thanks

I was wondering because the Spec sheets say for streaming video. Wasn't sure if I could reformat for windows use.

Also the connector is different than my other Sata drives.

Looks like I will need a adapter for my computer or convert to a ext USB storage drive.

Got any ideas on where to get a adapter?

Thanks MrBill. I'm not familiar with Direct TV receivers. I just used a drive from an old DVR once. Just formatting did the trick for me.

Thank you for your post to youtube.

I have a Segate 1TB, hd, but i think I'm out of luck because I dont have the Direct TV receiver to hot swap the sata cable.

Also, it looked like your OS on your computer was not windows.

To you knowledge is there any other way to int and format this hard drive?

I was thinking of using this drive as a ext USB data drive. Do you think the Sata to USB converter would int the drive?
