Just had a virus warning from Avast saying "scvhost.exe" was infected with "Win32:Istdnldr-AN [Trj] ". I can post a HJK this log if needs be.

Is scvhost.exe quite an important file, it always seems to be running. What should i do, delete it, leave it...

    Thanks

    Alex :(

    scvhost.exe is a virus.
svchost.exe is legitamate and you will have several of those processes.

Did Avast clean the infection? A HJT log wouldn't be a bad idea. ;)

Your log looks clean to me.
Apparently you deleted the correct file, else you wouldn't be running now. The difference between the two is the spelling.

    scvhost.exe is a virus.
svchost.exe is legitamate and you will have several of those processes.

That and folder location in other cases. Where C:\Windows\System32\Svchost.Exe is the correct file, while C:\Windows\Svchost.Exe is not, although spelled correctly in this case.
