I want to use my HP Scanjet Scanner with new XP computer. Problem is scanner is attached via scsi card plugged into an ISA slot. New computer doesn't have any ISA slots. I've seen scsi cards that plug into PCI slots. Question is: Are all scsi cards the same or are they built for a particular device?

I guess you should find out if your scanner will go on another SCSI card. Then you can get a PCI SCSI as long as it has an external connection. I have an Epson hooked to an old('95) Adaptec 2940. You might have to buy another external connector so it will have the proper ends.

Have you had a chance to check for drivers that are compatible with scanner and XP? Just thinking out loud, since previous computer had ISA cards. XP is picky when it comes to drivers.

I've read on another board that there are drivers available. It's the physical connection of the scanner to computer that I'm trying to solve now. There are pci scsi cards available on ebay, but I don't know if they will work with this scanner.

    Thanks for your replies

You just need to get the size off the new SCSI card and either make or buy another external cable here is a link just to look at them http://www.tmcscsi.com/exCables.shtml . They come in all sizes and lengthes. I know they are stiff cables so getting a short one is a PETA.

How much money do you have invested in the scanner?

You can get "new" killer scanners for 50 bucks!
