I have a SCSI HDD and IDE HSS in the same box. The SCSI is set to the first boot device.

Should the IDE HDD be set to a maser or slave?

    Thanks

If the IDE drive is the only one on the cable it should be set as Master or you could connect it to the end of the cable and set it as CS (Cable Select).

Master/Slave/CS settings for IDE devices don't interfere with SCSI settings and vice versa.
