I have XP Pro and I am playing a home video DVD on WMP9. I am trying to capture an image or two from the DVD for use as an insert for the box. I used the Printscreen key to get an image from WMP9 that I planned on cropping as needed. But, when pasted, the image is not static. That is, if I try to adjust the size of the image using the arrows at the little square blocks, I can make the frame change but the image within does not. It is as if you are looking through the frame to an image behind it, and the image is not connected to the frame itself.

I figured that a screenshot is a screenshot and it doesn't matter if it is a desktop full of icons or a movie on pause. Am I wrong?

Also, if I use screen capture software, I get a totally black "image ". Is this GUI hell?

i seriously doubt print screen can capture any static image in any digitally written movie or video while it is playing.

The only way it could do that would be if there were some way of pausing the movie or video. I would think.

Hold it, i just noticed you posted you HAD PAUSED WHAT YO WISH TO CAPTURE. GIVEN THAT, Now, I have no clue given i now share your premise.

Tell me, please, what program are you trying to paste the screenies into from the clipboard? Paint?

Most all 3rd party video software players have a frame capture tool. WinDVD, Powerquest, etc.

Hey Tony, thanks for the suggestion. I had an OEM PowerDVD in my junk box that came with one of my DVD-RW's. Worked like a charm.

And Jilly... thanks for suggestion. I would say that "A little convoluted..." shows that you are a kind-hearted person.
