    hello ,

why should we enable the screensaver option in the system. How does it affect the system if we disable it and what does it signify?
Does this i.e screensaver's has anything to do with Power Supply to the computer? I mean What's the importance of the screensaver?

    thanks

It's not as important any more, but back in the day screen savers did just that - save screens. When you left something up on one of the old CRT monitors for too long, an image would burn into the projection screen and you would be seeing the ghost of your desktop any time your screen was on, no matter what you were running.

This isn't as much of an issue anymore with newer technology and the advent of flat-panel monitors and LCDs.

It won't affect your system if you disable the screen saver, in most cases. However, you can set your monitor power settings from the screen saver tab in Windows. This will automatically put your monitor to sleep after long periods of inactivity (saves monitor lifespan, as well as your power bill). But changing the screen saver will not directly alter how your machine is powered.

I keep the screen saver enabled, because I like having a password prompt come up when someone tries to sit at the computer. It's not great security by itself, but it's one more thing people have to get around if they're trying to access your machine.

enabling the screensaver saves more power or just keeping monitor off(temporarily)(not turning off the computer but keeping it off such that downloading is still running as we do overnights for heavy downloading or music being played )?

    thanks

The screen saver prevents your monitor from getting a "ghost image" burned into it. Turning your monitor off saved power. You can turn the monitor off after the screen saver has been activated, too.

    Right-click your desktop >
    select "properties" >
select the "screen saver" tab on the window that appears >
    press the "power" button >
set "turn off monitor" to whatever you want

All you will have to do is move your mouse to see the screen again. Turning the monitor off will not affect playing music or current downloads.

The only exception may be if your monitor is using built-in speakers, but I do not know - I have never had a monitor with built-in speakers. Another member will have to answer that question.
