I normally turn my monitor off when I am going to be away from my computer for a while. I run a password protected screensaver so when I get back to the computer I have to enter my password. When I turn the monitor off, my screensaver won't come on. It used to with all the computers I've had in the past. I want to password protect this computer when I'm not here.

Require a logon password to get on the PC.

When you are leaving for a period of time, hold down the right-hand windows key and press the letter "L" (lower case is fine but I wanted to make sure it didn't look like another letter). That instantly locks the PC and no one gets back on without the password. Lots more secure than just a screensaver password would be.
