scanner won't work

Hi folks,
Suggestions please... I have a colorado direct 9600 scanner which worked great with 98 but XP won't detect it when installed from CD.

Also my digital camera seems to be exactly the same.
Help appreciated.

Primax says they can't guarantee compatability of this scanner with XP. But according to this , it will work.

 

Are your scanner and digital camera USB devices? When I installed XP Pro on my computer everything worked great until I installed a couple of critical updates. Then, all of the USB devices quit working. The computer wouldn't recognize. I found a solution on the MicroSoft KnowledgeBase. Don't remember exactly what it was, but now everything works again.

 

Scanner not USB.
Tried downloading Windows NT driver for this because manf does not provide driver for XP. Scanner now works but the images are poor quality and colours very bad! Then again I was used to saving to Jpeg once edited in MGI photosuite. Don't know what to make of this now. Perhaps it is time for a new scanner.
