    Windows XP Pro.

I have to make this quick and with as much info as I can think of right now and give you folks something to start with.

I have to take my Wife to do some Work for the Ladies Auxilary.

This problems is with both old and new scanners.

MY old scanner HP scanjet 2200C started giving me problems by locking up the system when trying to scan. ( it USED to work ).

So I figured it was just old and worn out so I bought a new HP scanjet 3970.

Same problem. It will Copy to file or printer. But When I select Scan from the buttons on the machine I get PROBLEMS. ( lockups )

Now. When I select HP Director ( which I see from the 98SE machine is just like the buttons on the machine ) from the scanner menu I get SCRIPT errors

Now hang on to your hat. I installed it on an ANCIENT Win98SE machine and it works FINE. Slow but works.

But there may a clue here that I do not understand. When I installed it on the 98 machine I got a popup that said that I needed something to do with ActiveX ( I believe )

Light bulb lights with an idea. Be it wild or otherwise.

On the XP machine I have the popup blocker turned on.

    Gotta go for now.

    The actual error says

    Internet explorer error

    line 146 Char 5
    Line 99 Char 5

It does not lock thing up when the scanner is not connected.
