I have an HP3300C scanner and an HP Deskjet 3420 printer. I'm having trouble using them on my new computer. They worked fine on my old machine (98SE) but XP doesn't seem to like it. The scanning or copying screens seem to open, but nothing ever prints out.

Bucksone: I can't help you directly, but there have been several posts on this BBS about the same problem. If you haven't already, do a Search for scanners in the XP forum and see if you can find something to better help you. With my case, it was a year-old Visioneer scanner that wouldn't work with XP. Even downloading their XP driver update didn't help. I hope your luck is better.

I've been working with assistance from HP on getting this darn scanner to work. One of their suggestions is to log on as an administrator and try the scanner. How do I log on as an administrator?

If you are the single user of your PC you will almost certainly have Administrative rights - and if you have installed software, made system changes, etc then you most certainly have.

See more info in Control Panel > User Accounts
