    Hi,

I installed a win2k to a P III computer. It is working fine except that at the beginning, it always want to scan the hdd, says improper shutdown, and checking for inconsistency although the machine shuts down properly.

    Thanks

Maybe seeing a problem and just not fixing it when the autochk runs.

    Try this:

Open a command window and put in chkdsk /r and when it asks, answer YES to do it at next boot.

Reboot and let the autochk run. It will take longer since the /r switch does lots of checking.

See if that takes care of your issue. If not, you may have a hard drive starting to go south.
