I have Windows 7 on my pc, and when i want to save a document, Photo or something from a web page, i have to constantly navigate my way through C drive, user, user to get to the desktop. Is there any way that i can preset the save function so that it will go straight to the desktop. Many thanks.

Hi GRAHAM WESTON. What Internet browser are you using to save documents, and photos to your machine?

You should see a "Desktop" icon at the very top of the list on the left side of the folder tree;)

    Evan,
I use IE, chrome and firefox, but it also happens when saving attachments in emails. If i have a number of things to save , once i have say saved one to a particular folder, when i save the next it will open to that same folder. But once i have shut down browser, or email, and later open up again and try to save something else, it reverts back to the same situation, where i have to navigate my way through C drive to get to the desktop, then to the folder i want to save to.

    Steve,
as per above, if i have saved something, it will open to that same folder when i want to save something else. But once i have shut down browser or email, when attempting to save something again, desktop will not show in save options, i have to navigate to it from C drive.

    1. Open My Computer.
    2, View Menu.
    3. Navigation pane > Show all folders.

Desktop will always be at the top of the list on left.

Or, while using your browser right-click any image you see on this page and select "Save image as..." (or "Save picture as... ") and then when Windows pops up its window, over on the left near the top, double-click "Desktop ".

    Save locations

    Gentlemen,
Desktop was not showing as a save location, but I have managed to add it to the library, so now when I want to save, it is showing in the expanded library plane, and is much easier to get to, much better than having to navigate through C drive. Many thanks for all your help, it's appreciated.

    Cheers.
