    Hello to All,

Does anyone know how to save email folders to a cd? I have tooooo many, and would like to get them out of there, and (someday) go through them. For now I bet they're taking up a lot of room on my hd (6G) and also I have another email program I'd like to try, but without importing like 1,000 emails over to it. I am running Netscape 4.79 with XP Pro, on a 6g hard drive with 448mg ram and a 450 processor. HD has 1.5 G or so free.

I can save the emails to something that I think is a text message form, but I'd rather be able to save it so I can restore it later. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can save your email "folders ".

    Close netscape.
In windows explorer, navigate to your profile directory.
    Go to the mail directory.
You should see your mail files there, labed as "inbox ", "sent ", "drafts ", etc. Each of those files (the ones with NO extentions) appears as a "folder" in netscape. Simply use something like winzip to archive them, then burn the zipped files to cd. Or, you can burn them directly to cd, but they will be read only, requiring you to remember to change them to read/write if you ever decide to restore them.

You should probably compact any folders you wish to archive, to remove all deleted messages. If you decide to zip your mail files before storing on cd, try to use a consistent naming system, to prevent confusion later. ;)

Thanks, Tranquilo, for your response! I will try it, probably over the weekend. Appreciate the guidance.
