I upgrade my os from 98SE to Windows XP. I used to be able to scan pictures in Photoshop and it would by default save them as .bmp in Windows\temp. It still does in Windows\temp\ but I can't access them outside of Photoshop, nor the converted jpg pictures which are also saved in the same directory. Why is that?

Is there anyway to change the default saving directory where these files are saved? Or a simple work-around to the problem?

So far I was able to save the jpg pictures in another directory, say c:/my pictures, but doing that for each pictures, when I am scanning hundreds of them, is very laborious.

I would appreciate any help to solve this problem.

Haven't used the application so some general thoughts here.

    1. There should be some where in preferences/options/settings/whatever to specify where files are to be saved.

    2. You can always clean out c:\windows\temp before you start, scan your stuff, and move the files as a block to where you want them.

    3. This is an issue with an application rather than the operating system. You will usually do better to place this sort of thing directly into the applications section since lots of folks look there and never look in this section.

    Thanks for your reply:

    1) I used to be able to access the files in windows\temp\ directory before in win98. My question is why can't I do it now? I think I tried to save the files from another software also, like Vueprint, with the same result.

    2) I couldn't find any default saving location in preferences in photoshop.

    3) I couldn't move the files en bloc from photoshop. You can only only do it one at a time.
