I recently downloaded the demos for particle illusion (2d video effects program) and alam dv (video effects program). First i downloaded PI (particle illusion) and discovered that when i hit the "save output" button a windows "save as" dialog opens, but then 3 seconds later the whole program closes without warning. I contacted PI tech support, but nothing they said worked, they said it was a windows problem. So thats when i downloaded alam dv. The same thing happened when i hit "load movie ", the "load movie" window would pop up, then the whole program would close. Help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Ironman - welcome to the Board :)

If your Windows Save/Save As commands are working OK otherwise I would suggest a dodgy demo. Are you sure that the demo allows you to save?- many don't.

If possible you could try an uninstall/reinstall.

yes i am positive the demo allows you to save, both of them do, because sometimes it works, but usually not. Plus, it says on the site that the demo does. Yes i have reinstalled both, it didnt work. Any more ideas?

    Not really :(

May be poorly written software not totally compatible with XP.

Only suggestion I have is to check you have no spyware aboard - hope you have run a virus scan .....

Download and run Spybot and Ad-aware , update their reference files and run Spybot before Ad-aware.

Also download and run Cwshredder - download at the bottom of the page under 'Epilogue'.

Certainly won't do any harm to clean your m/c and it might just solve your problem.
