If I write a note in, say, Notepad, and then attempt to save it using the 'Save As' option, the screen always defaults to the Windows folder. :(

Not a major issue but it would be nice to change the default destination to, for example, 'My Documents'.

    Any suggestions?

Right click on the shortcut you use to start notepad, choose properties and where it says "start in" change the path to the folder you want it to default to. I you want the my documents folder you can either type the path to it or copy and past the following line in.

    %HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%

    Well done!

It's so obvious that I missed it entirely. Thank you for reminding me to look more deeply. Much appreciated!
