Can anyone tell me how to save my Netscape 6.2 Address Book so that I can safely store it on a floppy?

I used to be able to save it as an ldif file, but now when I open my Netscape Address Book, I can find no way to export or save the addresses I have entered.

BTW, it's great to have this BBS back up and running... a great resource, sorely missed in its absence.:)

Not sure about 6.2 but when I used 4.78:

The address book is pab.na2, found in:
    C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users\yourusername

I would send to the A drive from there.

Maybe 6.2 is different but.....this is all I can do for you. Hope it helps.

    Hi Harold7,

No Export for the Address Book in Netscape 6.2, unfortunately! I have seen this third-party program recommended:

    http://www.seas.upenn.edu/~zakharin/Software/Dawn.html

The Address Book file , abook.mab, is located in:
    C:\Windows\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\yourusername\xxxxxxxx.slt

    LandShark!

Not a problem, and great to see you back.

    rhettman5!

LOL! Figured you knew the difference. I use Bookmark Priest to keep my Netscape and Opera Bookmarks in sync. Tranquilo gave me the tip on this neat program.

On Bookmarks, you really don't have to use a program to transfer them between Communicator and 6.2.

On the install of 6.2, Communicator's Profile is automatically transferred. If you want to transfer the Bookmark file from 6.2 to 4.x, just rename 6.2's bookmarks.html file to bookmark.htm. Then place it in your 4.x Users folder.

Thanks for the help. Dawn works great, it's exactly what I need... a neat little program BTW.

I use Linkman 6.5 to manage my bookmarks, from Nescape to Opera to IE 6 it works very well, hopefully a future version of Netscape will contain this valuable feature for saving address books... I can't imagine why it's been left out for so long.:)

    Hi Harold7,

Glad to hear that Dawn worked out for you.

I'm certain that the Export feature will be added to future Releases of NS 6. I do agree though, it is a feature I would have thought that Netscape would have included in the 6.2.1 Release.
