I am wondering which is better. Because I spend a lot of time in spyware forum, I should know that I need AVG AntiSpyware.

I also have SAV. I am wondering if it would make sense to take SAV off and put AVG AntiVirus on because that way I will have 2 AVG programs.

I also have been hearing bad reviews about SAV and how it does not catch everything that AVG catches.

I am wondering what would make the most sense

    Hi, sniper9228.

    Please pardon my ignorance.

What is "SAV "? Sophos Antivirus? Symantec Antivirus? Some other antivirus?

    Hi, Pete. :)

I thought that might be the case too but it seems the acronym should be SAS instead of SAV.

You are right, of course - I suggest a typo by sniper.

Sniper might have typoed four times then (once in the title and thrice in the body).

Sniper, if that's the case, then you'd better eat an extra bowl of Wheaties in the mornings. :D

    Hello sniper,

As far as I'm concerned, SAS does have a good rep overall with some systems having issues with it, quite common with all software. I'd be interested knowing where you're "hearing bad reviews ". SAS does have it's own public forum.

SAS and AVG AS are not mutually exclusive as long as you do not try to run both resident. For the record, I run the free versions of both on demand.

And in principle, why would it be a plus to have two AVG programs? If you're getting a price break, then it would make sense to get the paid version of AVG AS and use the SAS free version as an on demand scanner.

BTW, I took the liberty of editing your thread title - when I saw SAV, I thought Symantec AV.

    Regards - Charles

    Charles et al:
Since sniper9228 hasn't been back to clarify this, I should add that I too took this as a hack-knee'd reference to Symantec. And, since sniper9228 is using Symantec's AV as evidenced in the HJT logs he posted in malware, I still believe this is the case. Perhaps "Theresa the Card Reader" will weigh in to answer the mystery - ya just gotta love some of "this stuff ".

LOL, Rock I think you're right.

    If that's the case:
    Absolutely agree with you :D

    Get both AVG programs.

Back to the original thread title :)

    Regards - Charles
