I am running Win 7 on a SATA drive set up as Native IDE. Windows measures all my components at 7.4, with the exception of the HD which is rated at 5.9.
Is this because of the Native IDE mode or do I have a slow SATA drive.

I have a second SATA drive in the PC, but do not want to set up a RAID arrangement. Is there a better arrangement I can use?

You will be hard pressed to better 5.9 unless you use SSD drives. Plenty of info here ....

RAID won't speed anything up - just use the drive as normal. 4 SATA's installed in my system.

Agree with PeteC. I have 2 x 15,000 RPM SAS drives in RAID 0, but still get only 6.2 for my Disk data transfer rate.
