We have several Samsung CLP680ND printers. The latest one serving our Admin Office. Recently the user on a newish Dell running 64 bit Windows 7 has found that she is unable to print PDF and web based documents. They go to the printer which boots out of standby but then the printer goes offline and no printing comes out. Then to get the printer going again it's necessary to cancel all documents then it will go online and print from MS Office with no problem.

Samsung support suggested replacing the driver installed from disk with the latest download and switching to non IE browser.

Did that and that resolved the web based printing issue. However, still have the same problem with PDFs. Any suggestions please?

Very specific problem but like every good Aussie, I'll "have a go ". :D

I would agree about a driver problem. Just possibly settings (settings outside the printers capabilities).

Have you uninstalled the drivers/software in Programs and Features? Or just deleted the printer?

Printers software has often have/had "complete uninstallers" (I don't know Samsungs). Try looking or asking on their support website.

If both types of documents were doing the same thing, now only one, you may not have done the repair completely.

Thanks mattman - I had missed your response. These Samsungs take the updates through the Samsung Syncthrough Interface. I tried it and it refused to run. I will have a further go next week when I'm back at work.

    Resolved

I think this one is resolved now. Clients using them are not generally happy - often the issue is a mismatch in the paper size that the user has not noticed and Windows tries to print say a letter sized document on A4 and this fails with multiple pages of code. Other times clients have just failed the machine by say not ensuring it has paper! Other times the machines are getting confused and switching off for a few minutes allows the motherboard to clear with the machine running ok on switching back on. Clients say bring back my HP printer - whic seem more tolerant to paper size changes etc. I have got to give Samsung support due credit though - their warranty support is superb.
