Dean - Welcome to the Board :)

I have split your post to a new thread (as requested in my respose to your email) ....

You may like to print out these instructions as you will be unable to connect to the Internet to read them while in Safe Mode.

Boot into Safe Mode and log onto your usual account.
In Safe Mode, open the SmitfraudFix folder again and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd

Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ? "; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter ".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process. A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process - a copy of this file is saved as C:\rapport.txt.

Stay in Safe Mode and scan with HJT

Reboot into Normal Mode and post the contents of the SmitfraudFix log located at C:\rapport.txt into this thread and the new HJT log.

    Thanks, Pete.

I received your emails, and I appreciate you starting the new thread. I am new to this forum so I apologize for my lack of understanding.

As for the two files you asked me to post, that is what is in the first part of this thread. What I did is follow the instructions that you had given someone else up to the point where you asked them to post their results. At that point it appeared that the "fix" became custom to the user based on what you see in the results files. So that is what is included in the original posting in the thread you created for me.

    * Also, I can't do this in safe mode. My login to windows isn't working when in safe mode. So I have done this in normal mode.

    Thanks for your help!

    Dean

Please follow my instructions in post #2 - the Smitfraud fix log you posted is for stage 1 - detection. My instructions are for stage 2 - the deletion of those files. Your HJT log is run on the 'dirty' machine before cleaning - it is of no great significance, so please scan again - and as many times as I ask - until we are sure that your computer is clean.
