If I don't turn the computer off before bed, when I wake up usually msmsgs.exe is maxing the cpu. When I close that program with task manager, the next program that I use will max out the cpu and usually it's iexplorer.exe. If I close that program I have to restart the system to get all normal functions back.
Also, I get random messages popup from Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

    Runtime Error!

    Program: C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\AUpdate.exe

The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

I suspect your computer is infected with trojan downloaders and spyware. The programs you mentions all have net access and none should ever max out cpu usage. It is common for spyware to "piggyback" applications that have net access. I suggest you follow some of the basics covered in the spyware-virus forum here.

Hi, braddky. Welcome to Windows BBS! :)

    Specifics on TonyT's suggestion...
    1. Please carefully follow all the instructions in this link.
    2. Then start a new thread in the "Removing Spyware & Viruses" forum (with a descriptive thread title).
    3. Post details about your problem, what you did, and what you discovered (including what scans you performed and detailed results of those scans).
    4. Then paste your HijackThis (HJT) log in your post for the anti-malware experts to look over.
    5. Wait for expert guidance before proceeding further.
CAUTION: Do not have HJT "fix" anything without carefully following expert guidance. You can potentially render your computer unstable or even unbootable.
