When trying to open an office 2002 xp doc. within windows 98, I am suddenly getting the following error from script sentry; Runtime Error '429' : ActiveX Component Can't Create Object.
Has anyone got any advice as to what I should do.
From checking around on the internet one suggestion was to upgrade to the latest Service Pack.
    I have all critical updates.
I would be pleased to hear of any ideas or suggestions .
    Many thanks

"Run time error" usually means an application you are trying to run is corrupted, or not able to work with a file you just received.
If you are trying to open an office 2002 xp document, and you have only, for instance, Office 2000 installed on your machine, it won't work. Usually applications are not back compatible. Ask your sender to save that document in "****2000 Office component" version, and resend it to you.

"ActiveX Component Can't Create Object" occurs when either the component hasn't been registered or an object within a component doesn't exist. The component could be a dynamic link library [dll] for example.

It has nothing to do with corruption or critical updates.

broni's conclusion is probably correct. Updated software very often has new components or the same components with additional objects.

BTW, ActiveX Component Can't Create Object is usually followed by a colon and the name of the offending component and object.
