While Windows Server 2008 can be run under 32-bit server environemnt, the Windows Small Business Server 2008 can only be run under 64-bit hardware environment.

Can Windows SBS 2008 be run under 32-bit virtualization environment? How?

    64 bit depends on hardware!

Before you can run a 64 bit OS have 64 bit computer!

If you have only a 32 bit computer then you can run nothing 64 bit virtualized or not!

Now if you have 64 HW then you can run 64 bit virtualized or not!

    Hi Mike,

Some years ago, I ran a virtual environment (can't remember the name) in 8-bit and emulate as 16-bit, and later ran a 16-bit environment as 32-bit. I thought there is something now to run a 32-bit machine as a 64-bit machine.

I am disappointed if it's not available, yet.

Seems like a paradox to me!

If you could go back in time could you meet yourself?:D

I was there with and since the first IBM PC 8080 and I don't remember any.

It may have been possible in the early days to emulate some (some machine language calls would not have been possible) 16 bit in 8 bit of pure dos text mode programs that really did not use the then esoteric true 16 bit calls.

Because of the Machine language calls that exist in 16 bit that did not exist in 8bit some things would have been impossible!

But these programs and OS's DOS were so simple compared to todays Operating systems.

In short Virtualizatin depends on the host OS even if the Processor is 64 bit if the OS is 32 bit then 32 bit is it!!!! You can not make a tiger out of a p*ssy cat!
