Suddenly my computer has slowed. Trouble restarting. I opened tasks in task manager. It shows Calculator, Movies and TV, Microsoft Store, and a couple others. I unload calculator and it reappears. Etc.

Not sure what you mean by "opened tasks in task manager" there is no listing or tab for Tasks. I think you may be talking about the Apps History Tab. The listings there do not apps that are running, it is showing you exactly what it says, "apps history" Resource Usage since the 1st of the month. That does not mean that they are running at the time. Even if you remove something from the list it will of course come back because it is installed on the computer. Try doing a cleanup of the computer, run your security programs, disk clean up and that type of thing.

Can you remember whether you had ant updates/software downloads prior to this "slow down" occurring?
Any recent changes may be the cause or compatibility problems.
    MBAM check? AV test?
Did you mean Processes in Task Manager?
Did you mean you used End Task to stop the App?

In task magager it's under Processes. In System Explorer it's under tasks. Calculator is running but I don't find it under startups.

I have found and apparently many others, that their computers slowed down noticeably after Windows 10 version 1709 was forcibly installed by Microsoft, who apparently think all computers are their property. Middle of this month MS is updating Windows 10 again. What are the hidden nasty's this time?

None of mine have slowed down. Just as fast/slow as they ever were. :p

    In W10 it's File Explorer!
Is this problem with W10 or W7?
Your Operating System is shown as W7 64bit in your Profile.

@BobbyScot, as you know I'm running W10 Pro 64bit Version 1709 OS Build 16299.334 with all current updates and NO slowdown ever.
The more software/programs you have open - you will notice slowdowns. You have the latest HP Omen Gaming comp which should be real fast.
You have numerous HDD's with older software and I think that may be the answer to your slow comp not MS updates.

As pointed out, it all depends on how many programs are running, the number saved on the C drive and type of computer.
