This woman is having problems with her computer. She reports sluggish behavior in her computer, as well as error messages when logging into windows (she could not remember the error message and did not want to risk rebooting her machine to find out for me). I do know she has at least two children, limewire, and multiple browser toolbars, but no reports of browser hijacking.

Instead of running her through multiple virus scans hoping to catch "something" I'd like you guys to please look at the RSIT logs I had her create, and hopefully target some problems.

    Thanks so much!

EDIT: Logs removed pending initial clean and purge.

    CUISTech,

C'mon fella - you have two AV programs installed and running. You have both Limewire and Bearshare, a host of malware related serach tools installed and a very big case of Laziness. You originally told us you were a gainfully employed IT guy and what I read into this plea (along with your past activity) is "hey, anybody want to do my job for me?" Why don't you at least do some of the preliminary work by paring down the dual AV apps and removing Limewire and Bearshare along with those Search Bars.

Let's not forget - we are all volunteers around here.

So noted. Please don't think I was abusing your kindness. Removing the the filesharing programs IS the first order of business, and then removing the active anti-virals (because, like everyone says, too many running at once is bad).

I just figured before I went and *altered* anything, you'd want to examine the picture as a whole.

My policy is generally to not rip the guts out of a patient looking for a disease and then ask, "Why'd he die?" Just... wanted a differential before I started cutting.

One question about HJT, first, please. In order to get rid of the browser search bars, would it be okay to check those BHO entries in HiJack This, or should they be uninstalled manually? Which is the better, and hopefully simpler, procedure?

    CUISTech,

In your defense, I am happy to see that you stopped to consider the disadvantage of tearing through that mess with a bulldozer, possibly causing more problems than already exist. In Rockster's defense, it would be nice to see that you grabbed up a chainsaw and began clearing out the obvious. In other words, use add/remove to get rid of the toolbars, p2p apps, antivirus, etc., then use some basic scanners like Spybot and Ad-aware to clean out what they can. Make sure the antivirus left in is working and up-to-date and run a scan, allowing it to further clean anything it finds. Do some research via Google on what's left and post back with about 85 to 95% of that mess cleaned up, if needed.

Help us to help you. ;)
