Hi, Just an advanced warning, I am not very educated on Network configuration so please be patient.

I had four PCs on a home network hard wired to a (A) Wireless Router/Modem with four Lan ports which worked fine for two years. I needed to expand my Network so I purchased a (B) four port Router with a Wan port. This Router (B) was connected to a Lan port on Router (A) Wan to LAN. I changed the IP address on Router (B) as both were the same by default. I can connect to the Internet on Router (B) via Wan to Lan on Router (A). The computers on each router can see only the ones Networked on A or B, (as if two separate networks) not as a complete Network. (A) cannot see PCs on (B) nor vis versa. Can someone explain in simple terms what I need to do please.

You should not have purchased a second router. Return it and purchase a network switch. Just connect it to the router and you are good to go, no configuring needed.

Now, to use the router you purchased, you must:
    1. login to the router
    2. assign it a static ip address 1 number higher than your existing router
    3. disable its DHCP service & firewall

That essentially turns the router into a switch, disabling its router functionality.

You have network problems now because you have 2 separate networks by using 2 routers.

My advice, return it and buy a simple network switch.

    example:

Hi, Thanks for that TonyT. The default IP on the routers was 192.168.1.1 so I changed router (B) IP to 192.168.2.1 and disabled DHCP but I still cannot see any of the PCs on router (A). If I change the IP in WAN setting i cannot get onto Internet from router (B)

Now it may be am not understanding your instructions above.

Hi, Ok ignore my last comms, the mistake I was doing after changing the IP was that I connected the routers WAN to LAN instead of LAN to LAN. All working fine now. Second router works as a switch.
    Thanks for all the help
