    Hi all,
Need some help setting up my wireless home network.

I purchased a Laptop for my son and like for him to get on line without having to unplug my computer and plugging his in and I do not want to run wires all over the place, so I got myself a netgeaer wgt624 v.3 from E-Bay. Off cause it has no cd with it to set it up, they say you don’t need any. You can download it from netgear. I have not found any setup software at the netgear site, just the manual. I found a trouble shooting page and followed the recommendations there and I can ping the router here are the results:
Pinging 192.168.0.1 with 32 bytes of data:

    Reply from 192.168.0.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128
    Reply from 192.168.0.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128
    Reply from 192.168.0.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128
    Reply from 192.168.0.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128

    Ping statistics for 192.168.0.1:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 0ms, Maximum = 0ms, Average = 0ms

So, my computer knows it is there.

I have plugged it in according to a drawing and it should work.
The power is on, the internet symbol is lit and the number 1 is lit( that is where I plugged in my computer) I also tried the other 3 ports, but it is all the same.

I really would appreciate if someone with knowledge about routers especially this one can tell me what to do next

    Thanks
    Sven

You really don't need to CD or the setup software. ;)

Just go to Start, Run, and type CMD and hit enter.

then at the CMD prompt type ipconfig and hit enter.
When you get the results look for the Default gateway address.

    Type that into your brouser.

You will be prompted for a user name and password.

    User Name: admin

    Password: password

you will then be prompted to run the setup wizzard.

Let us know how that goes.

Thanks for your fast answer, but it did not work.

After typing ipconfig it gives me
    DNS suffix,,,,,,,,,
    IP Adress,,,,,,,,,,,, 195.168.0.1
    Subnet Mask,,,,,,,, 255.255.255.0
    Default gateway,,,

So I don’t get any data on Default gateway and dns Suffix

    What else can I try?

    Ahh Ebay. Missed that part.

Start with finding the procedure in the manual to reset to factory defaults.

Probably a reset button on the back that needs to be held in for 10 seconds.

    Scott,

    It worked!!!

I had to create an internet gateway to get this going.
After that I just followed the prompts

    Thanks for the help
