After a while my router will not let me connect to sites through the internet, we have to restart the router and then it works again for a good 2 hours, etc.

I'm using a D-Link Router, can get more info if it helps.

    Thanks.

I might suspect a problem with the firewall. Check if the router has a NAT firewall if it does and it is configured OK then you will not need any software firewalls.

Test your firewall system at www.grc.com -> Shields Up. If the router drops out during the tests you will know why.

Some program may be trying to connect to it's home website and is being blocked by the firewall, that may be malware or an updating program.

Run Event Manager and see what is happening at the time of the dropout.

Check the FAQs at the D-Link website.

    Rerun the router setup CD.

Check for setup information at the ISP's website.
