I have a netgear router ( i know i know) and have always had problems with it. Ever since I got it, it would lose my internet connection every once in a while. Now I found out I need to upgrade the software for it because it was not remembering my ISP login name and password.

However now I can't connect to my router at the usual http://192.169.0.1

Secondly I also noticed now that when I restart my computer it takes a couple of minutes for the LAN connection icon to show up in my bottom right corner of the start menu. This never use to happen so I think there is something wrong w/ my settings.

Any advice? I have tried netgear support, toshiba support and my ISP support and have gotten no where. I tried a system restore to a month ago when the router worked and that was not succesful.

The router should have some way to be reset to it's default values. Try that and you should be able to connect unless the hardware is failing.

After that, a firmware update and you should be good to go. Netgear has sorta dropped out of popularity but there is certainly nothing basically wrong with their router/switches.
