Received a message from a friend that has a rather large rotating icon as a header which said, "From the desk of Tom Mason ". What is the recipe to change the name on the icon? Please advise. Thanks for your time.

Just a guess. Right click on it and see if you can do a "save as" and save it to your computer. You might try opening it with MS Paint and edit it.

Lis--Just ruminating here, since I have never done it. But basicially you will have to learn how to see and read the code and how to change the code for icons.
    See
    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q="create+icon"&btnG=Google+Search
One of the references looks especially good (but again I have not used it)
    http://www.cdmenu.de/icon.htm
I see that putting an icon into Irfanview (www.irfanview.com) does not seem to permit anything other than changing the icon into a .jpg or .gif, but reading or editing the code does not seem available. And if you right click on an .ico file, then Read as Text, you get a lot of code which means nothing to me. I am not sure if that is the actual code or not.

Able to "save as ". However, unable to edit using paint. Do not have paint pro. Appreciate your replies. Any more ideas? Thanks

How about asking Tom Mason how he did it?

Lis--No, neither Paint nor Irfanview will let you see the code--actually the individual pixels.
Did you try the http://www.cdmenu.de/icon.htm reference I suggested? Making or altering icons is not a matter of a few clicks.
But the suggestion of asking Tom Mason is a good one. If he is a friend (or even if not) he might be so flattered when you show interest that he will offer to make a similar icon for you. I have had people do that for me. ;)
