Hi Ramona,
1st, I contacted you thru search, and found you from this link.

I have been trying to set Netscape 6.2 as my default browser, but all the information I can find (including using the search on this site) is not working.

All the info I have seen instructs the user to click Edit, Preferences, Advanced and to select 6.2 as the default browser from there. I do not have that option.

Under Edit, Preferences, Advanced...the only options I have from there are
1) Enable Java
2)Enable Javascript for Navigator
3) Enable Javascript for mail and Newsgroups, and

4) Send this e-mail as anonymous...

Amazingly, at some point during all this frustration, as I went to check my mail (looking for my verification from this site) I was prompted to use 6.2 mail as my default. But no luck on the browser....and BTW, I was _never_ prompted, even at installation.

Please help if you can....I'll buy you something nice if I ever get rich...

I'm not Ramona and I don't have Netscape 6 but....
Make sure you are expanding the "Advanced" category and selecting the "System" subcategory in your preferences listing. This is from http://www.UFAQ.org/ns6/default_browse.html

Delighted that you found your way to the Netscape Forum!

As you are finding out, Netscape 6.x is a work in progress, and certainly not a finished product. If you still have Communicator on your system, just hang onto it!

I think when you looked in your Advanced Preferences you missed the "System" location.

If the information you were given doesn't work, please post back and let us help!

Thanks mucho ya'll....i reinstalled (again) and finally got one that worked. everything is working great right now, and I like the new setup in 6.2, seems to be very user friendly. I think it runs a little slow on my system, but maybe I can tweek that a bit. Thanks again for your help. Btw, I love this site....i'll probably be a regular as much as I crash stuff by messing with it.

Hi Gary,

Glad to hear you have 6.2.2 up and running! We'll be happy to see you anytime - problems or not! I am surprised that it is running slow, however. This Release is the fastest yet, so I'm wondering about your system configuration. The system requirements for 6.x:
Windows 95, 98, or 98SE, Windows Me, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, or Windows XP
Intel Pentium-class 233 MHz (or faster) processor
64 MB RAM
26 MB of free hard disk space

It will run slow on 64 MB RAM, and IMHO I would up the RAM to at least 128 MB.

I am currently using the Netscape 6.2.2 Streamline Version, with Mail & Newsgroups, 10.9 MB:
