I downloaded Win 10 during the night. Screen message said I would have opportunity to decide when to install it. But when I checked, Win 10 was already installed. I rolled it back to Win 7...with problems. It looks like there is a new Win 10 directory on my computer. When I am ready to install Win 10 (months from now), what do I do? What program do I click? And will this install Win 10 completely? Assume everything is already on my computer; it just needs to get the start command.

Meantime, trying to get Win 7 back to what it was. Printers do not respond yet.

The free upgrade will end at the end of this month.

Hi davidcal, This may explain a lot for you including why W7 Rollback loses some bits . Windows 10 - Upgrade Installation
You should be able to Start W10 at a later date by Fresh Install unless MS change the Rules. Neil.

Hi David. A fresh install is a clean install of Windows 10 where none of your settings or programs are retained. Since you will be upgrading to Windows 10 anyway, why not perform a clean install of Windows 10? Do you have any devices or issues with Windows 10 that would prevent you from upgrading to Windows 10 now?

This is my prefered method now of upgrade. First Download the Win10 ISO to either USB Flash drive or burn a dvd. Second during setup choose the advanced option so then you will be givin the option to Format the drive before then install. Note doing this will delete the bloatware on that partition and even remove the original recovery partition, so be understanding what you want.
    Or
The ISO gives you the option to keep all your files, but also know that Windows 10 upgrade WILL remove programs that it thinks are not compatible. This option is not available in the Recovery restore.

Thank you. Answers my question. Did not know you or others posted as I did not receive email notice of posting despite my showing this on preferences.

Yes, I have potential issues with Win 10. I have not checked to see which of my necessary programs are Win 10 compatible. When I tried out Win 10, I found it less useful than Win 7, so I will wait until I have to upgrade. Maybe by then the many patches MS will send will already have come in. If need be, I will keep Win 7 until 2020 when support suposedly ends.

That's fine. If you are more comfortable with Windows 7 then just stick with that version until 2020 and then you can make the jump to Windows 10.
