rock mobile 300 external hard drive

    ok i have a 300bg external rock hard drive it was working just fine a few months ago. i just went to plug it in and now it won't read on none of my computers. the light is green but yet nothing happens. my laptop reads it but then get a mess that it may not work properly.

    can anyone help with this problem

    Do you have data on it that you need? If not, I would delete and remake the partition on it and then format it (on your laptop).

    If you need the data, you should take the HDD out of the case and connect it into a desktop computer and try to copy it off.

    Most pre-built external drives are run with a software program. It could be possible that the software program is corrupted.

    The USB interface system could be failing, in which case you could get another external enclosure and put the HDD in that. You will need to test it first. Did it come with any testing utilities? Look on the Rock website for any utilities, software updates, etc.

    We sure do see quite a few questions about Rock external drives. I don't think I would use one for keeping my data secure.

    ok don't what is ahppening but i left the drive on all night and when i booted up my computerr it was reading the rock drive. so maybe it just needed to warm up. in any case i have a new 500bg exteranl drive coming and will take everything off the rock drive and just save it just in case i need it.
