    Hey guys,

When right clicking on a folder i get a list of commands that i dont want (specifically Windows Media Players added a buttload and AutoDesk added 4 of its own stupid 'quick runs') Where in the regitstry can I remove this again?

Similiarlly where can I remove the "Sun Java Console" under tools in Internet Explorer. I run java when an applet comes up, not just for kicks in the middle of the day. It already runs automatically why do i want a link too? Sorry, just venting, where is this one too?

    Thanks guys :)

There are several methods to edit these lists but many of them are very complex and involve Registry editing.

Let's try editing the context menu handler with this. I think it may do the job easier and safer.

Hi Abraxas, I have tested ContextEdit and I think you'll like ShexView much better. As an example, look for AgentRansack in ContextEdit. I'm sure you use that little dandy search utility. I never could find it in ContextEdit but it's easily available in ShexView. You can knock it right off the menus, not that you'd ever want to. :) Give it a try, I think you'll like it better too.

    Best regards.

I actually like CE better now that I'm better at operating it and can create my own entries.

And Agent Ransack is the first entry in my last for "File Folders" in CE.

Though shexview is good, too, it can be dangerous since there are a lot of entries that are shell extensions that are not context menu items. Disabling some can be bad. I prefer to do that in the reg.

    To each his own :D.

Good deal ningaming and thanks for posting back so others can share.

Abraxas, thanks for the direction to AgentRansack. Apparently I didn't look hard enough. :) I'll have to reconsider my usage of CE in light of that.

    Best regards to all.

Though I jumped to the defense of CE, I have to admit that it doesn't show all the context entries. A combination of yours and mine is a very good idea :D.

I'm glad you reconsidered and took a second look atShexView. Now I can consider my debt at least partially paid since you put me on to Agent Ransack years ago. :)

I use ShexView in concert with Regshot to tip me off to where the Reg Keys are for any given context menu item. They're a good sociable combo for the purpose.

Yes, I've been using shexview for almost as long as Context Edit and on the last 2 or 3 operating systems. I also use the Elrise Menu Editor and CMExtEd because these are sometimes easier to use to create cascaded context menus. For a while, I used ContextMenu ControlFreak, but for some reason it stopped working and I was not interested in repairing it. But that was also very good because you could sort the entries according to priorities and didn't have to look at them all every time you clicked :D.

They all have their merits and none does everything well.
