I know that with a floppy disc you have to format it to use it again. On a CD-RW how do you use it again? Do you just write over it or do you have to format it somehow?

If it is set up as a RW then yes just treat it as if it were any other disk.

The disk does have to be CDRW not CDR! A CDR can only be written once. You can delete filenames and folders from a CDR so they don't show up but it will not free the space.

But on a CDRW it will erase and free the space!

As for format! Some come formatted just like floppys others don't but you should be prompted to format if required, depending on which CDRW software you are using.

    Hi Bill!

A used CD-RW has to be erased to be reused. This is done under "CD" in Your burner program. Well, in Easy CD at least, which I use at the moment.

I have never used the "Direct CD" utility. You´ll have to format the CD-RW and then You can drag and drop files to it just like to a floppy.
The Nero variant of this application is called InCD.

To clarify the above, a CDR can be written to over and over until there is no more free space IF the disk is "left open" when burning. (this is a setting in the burner software)

Yes, that´s called a multisession CD. Burning small files one by one is however a waste of space since the overhead in the burning process is quite large.
When the CDR is full, it cannot be erased and reused but You knew that already.
