Hi, bought a 120Gb drive and formatted at NTFS with 4K clusters. Had to put it in a caddy as i had no space in PC 3.5in slots.

In Win2k, how do i set this as removable. I cannot find anything anywhere to do this. I remember in Win98 there was a check box for "drive removable" but nothing like that in 2k.

When i unlock the caddy and remove the drive, the pc locks or stalls, if it doesent lock on removeal, it will on insertion.

The drive is plugged in to the Promise RAID controller on my Asus A7v333 board. It isnt used in raid mode, just as a separate drive. Its the only drive on that IDE cable too.

    Any ideas?

Thanks for any help you can give,
    Staurt.

IDE doesn't support hot swapping, and afaik there is no option to manually set this. Unless your IDE raid card has specifically included this then you will just have to settle for powering down your machine. If you need a removable hard drive then you might consider looking into an external USB hard drive.
