Suddenly any mail I send from Netscape to my Outlook Express is returned to me as undeliverable. Previously my ISP was blocking some of my email. I instructed them to take me off any of their programs that block my email.

    Is this a Netscape problem?

If I try to send an attachment from Netscape to my OE address it is returned to me as undeliverable.

If I send an email with text only it goes through.

I looked at my OE options and under Security I do not have a check in the "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened "

I am able to open attachments from others

In your Netscape "Sent" folder, does the attachment appear and is it changed sizewise in any way ??
I just sent myself an attachment using an email client that is not Netscape mail and received it with OE and it came through fine.
Perhaps there is a problem in the Netscape mail client you are using.
Perhaps Ramona can make some suggestions, she seems to be the de facto expert on Netscape here.

The Netscape "Sent" folder looks Ok. I even deleted everything to clean out all folders.

I'll wait and see if Romona responds.

    Thanks:)

    Hi Ladyluck

Send yourself an attachment (From) Netscape, receive and opening the (Same) attachment with Netscape.
Have you added a router, changed routers, changed firmware of router?
Is the Netscape mail account type... POP3, Netscape IMAP, other provider IMAP?
Does it fail with any "file type" of attachment... graphic, .doc?
Are both Netscape and OE using the same "email account/ISP "? If yes, both logged in simultaneously?

Dennis thanks for all the info but I have no idea as to the

"Netscape mail account type... POP3, Netscape IMAP, other provider IMAP? "

I don't know how to check that. I've only used it as a second address.

As far as routers I never did anything with that.

Would you please explain the following:

Are both Netscape and OE using the same "email account/ISP "? If yes, both logged in simultaneously?

What is so confusing to me is that this just started and I've had Netscape for years

    ladyLuck,

You've never responded to what happens when you send yourself an email with an attachment (from Netscape account to Netscape account. Would you do this please, and then when you receive the email, copy the header information and post it here. That might give us a better idea of what's happening.

The "Header" is the part of the message with the TO: - From: - Subject:, etc. To copy the header:
    Highlight the message
Click on View | Message Source

Copy everything down to and including the salutation, then post it here. It's quite a bit of info, but will help.

To conclude whether or not you have POP or IMAP Mail look here:
Edit | Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings | Server Settings | Server Type
    Post back what is selected

If using the same email account with the same ISP for both OE and Netscape, you would have the same email address for both. For example:
    ladyluck@ripoff.net

The ISP or Internet Service Provider, is "Ripoff ", to whom you pay the monthly fee. Dennis is asking if you have multiple ISP's and if you use a different ISP for Netscape than you use for OE.

He also is asking if you open Netscape and IE at the same time, and have them both running when you are trying to send your mail...

Post back with answers, then Dennis, Daddad, and I can put our Netscape thinking hats on and figure this out.

Ramona When I send an email with an attachment from my Netscape mail to my Netscape mail there is no problem. I get the mail and the attachment and am able to open it.

    I tried this

"To conclude whether or not you have POP or IMAP Mail look here:
Edit | Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings | Server Settings | Server Type
Post back what is selected "

I'm logged into my Netscape mail but
If I go to edit I do not get the choices that you are showing.

    I only have one ISP
But the address I use on Netscape is different than OE

I do not have OE open while trying to send an email from Netscape

    ladyLuck,

I think we need to establish which version of Netscape you're using. The settings I gave you are for Netscape 7.xx.

    Are you using Communicator?

    Hi ladyLuck,

Just did a search for previous threads for you, and see that you are using MailWasher. It seems you had previous problems with the application, and creating a new Profile seems to have fixed the problem.

Are you still using MailWasher, and have you tried sending mail with MailWasher disabled?

I got mailwasher straightened out. Mailwasher was not running when I sent the attachment to my OE address.

Ramona If this sounds like I don't know too much regarding Netscape, I don't.

I use it for mail only, Does that help you in determining what I'm using?

When I go to Netscape it says" Netscape Network ". I do not know how to find out if I have Netscape 7 or Communicator.

How would I go about finding this information?

    Hi ladyLuck,

To determine the version of Netscape:
Click on Help | About Netscape
The information on the first two lines will give you the Version. If you would copy that info and post it here, then we can go from there.

    Thanks!

Ramona sorry that is not the choice I get.

When I click on help, I get "For Netscape Users ", then Microsoft Internet Explorer window comes up with the information on Getting Started, Using the internet etc.

What are the differences in Netscape?.

    Communicator, Navigator, 7xx ?

If you explain each maybe I can figure it out from that.

If I do a screen shot, can you tell what I'm using from that ?

    ladyLuck,
That's Internet Explorer that you're describing. That isn't Netscape at all. See these three screen shots of the Internet Explorer window you describe, plus Netscape 7.1 and Communicator.

Your first screenshot is what I get.

When I go to get or send mail, I go to www.netscape.com. From there I just click on mail.

That's the Netscape I use. I think it has to do with AOL IM. Although I no longer use IM.

    Hi ladyLuck,

I have been trying to recreate the problem you're having, but so far no luck! I have sent mail from my WebMail account, with attachments, to my other two mail programs, but no undeliverable messages were received.
I have sent mail to friends who have an OE Mail account, and nothing returned as undeliverable.

The Mail you are using is Netscape WebMail. It is an IMAP account, and not a POP3 account. To determine what version of Netscape you run, do this:

Start | Find | Files or Folders
    Type: netscape.exe
    (This is Communicator)

    If the file is found:
    Right click
    Select: Properties
    Click on the Version Tab

    Follow the same steps for:
    Netscp.exe
    (This is Netscape 7)

Let us know what you discover.

The most common causes for undeliverable mail are:
    Incorrectly addressed
Recipients Inbox has reached its quota
Your WebMail account hasn't been used in the last 90 days

None of these seem to apply to you, so I'm stumped! Are you still receiving the error?

    Ramona, looked for

    Netscape.exe Nothing came up

    Netscp.exe Nothing came up

The attachment was sent to my own address in OE which was a correct and working address.

I use both OE and Netscape everyday

I haven't tried to send any attachments from Netscape to my OE today but I will do that now.

If you have had enough of this I will understand.

Ramona and LadyLuck, if I may make some observations here.
As I see it, LadyLuck is using IE (Internet Explorer) as her browser and goes to the Netscape website to use their mail service.
She is doing this with her IE browser.

It does not appear that she actually has a Netscape browser installed, nor has a Netscape email client installed.
LadyLuck, please correct me if I am wrong on this issue.

I went to the Netscape website she uses and clicked on "Mail "
In the third paragraph down from the top (Virus Protection), it states that they will "automatically remove" any detected virusses and "repair it "

Could it be LadyLuck has an unknown virus/worm attaching itself to her outgoing attachment without her knowing it ???
And could this be the reason you (Ramona), myself and others cannot duplicate her problem.

Ramona, I am certain your machine is as "squeeky clean" as mine is regarding virusses, worms and spyware :)

LadyLuck, what antivirus protection are you using and is it up to date on the definitions ?????
Also, when you use the term "OE" are you refering to Outlook Express, the email client that came with your Win 98 operating system ??
Also, do you have a POP account set up through your ISP (Internet Service Provider) ??

I may be out in left field grasping for straws on this one but sometimes I seem to reside there :D

Daddad, my anti virus protection is Norton Corporate, yes up to date

    yes to Outlook Express

    Yes to POP account

I have scanned the attachments, no virus

Tried to send another attachment that I have saved in my documents to myself at my OE address and it still is being returned as undeliverable.

I sure don't know why, as I have always been able to do this.

I have not changed anything in Netscape.
