I have been trawling the internet for two days now in an attempt to find an answer to a problem I am experiencing with W2K (SPack 2).

I like to put my PC into hibernate as this speeds up the next startup. However, when the system resumes I have real problems with dial up network connections to my service provider using Internet Explorer and Outlook Express (6). For example, when I click send/receive mail in Outlook Express the
dial up networking box comes up and I enter my password and click connect. Nothing happens at all - the connection box says its connecting but doesn't. The same is true with Internet Explorer. I have to close both with task manager and restart the system to access the internet. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hibernation

    Hi roy,

I'm not sure if this will help or is the answer to your problem but, I wil pass the info along anyway.

When a computer goes into hibernation, the power management system stops supplying power to the modem. When the computer comes out of hibernation it thinks there is no modem attached. I believe this doesn't happens with all modems or computers but, I've had the problem with several laptop users who couldn't use their modems after the laptops went into hibernation.

Hope this sheds some light on your problem.
