You don't! Even with any 3rd party software that I know of!

    Why not recreate the account?

If the Profile still exists for this account in Documents and settings then I would back it up or rename it then rebuild the account let it create a new profile in Documents and settings then copy all from the old (backed up or renamed) profile into the new!

    OK I see.

    Are you saying?

    1. This is the only user that properties is missing from?

    2. That the user account works as it is?

    I understand now.

I thought you had the account it was working but a rt click on it did not present the "Properties" selection.

Of course you will not get properties untill you get the account.

I see no alternative than to rebuild the account!

Reggie a member of this BBS are also very knowledgable in this area, hopefully he will comment.

I can't see that I can add to mflynn's first post. If you've not backed up, its gone.

You're only option is to create a new user with the same user name and put them in the same OU they used to belong to. You may find it easiest to copy another user that has similar rights.

However, before you do that: if the user still has access to their PC (the local PC will cache the user credentials for a while), get them to back up their settings and documents using the "Files and Settings transfer Wizard" on their PC whilst logged in with the old account.

Then recreate the user and get them to log in with the new account.

Then restore the files and settings using the "Files and Settings transfer Wizard ".

But most importantly - get yourself a back up system and use it. We've all made these sorts of mistakes. The best only make it once. Mere mortals may do it a couple of times, but everyone learns: if you run a server you need a good working backup system. I use three!!!!!
