Hi there, as a new poster I would just like to thank anyone in advance for any help they can give me. I have no doubt whatsoever that this type of problem has came up before, but here goes...

I have a Packard Bell Imedia PC with windows xp installed as part of factory settings. The PC is 6 years old and does work really well. However, due to getting another PC, I wish to sell it and would like to restore it to its original state with nothing except the standard windows xp home edition installed. My problem is, I only recieved a recovery floppy disk with the packagae, so I made three back up recovery CD's as I was instructed.

When the floppy disk boots up, it asks me for Master CD1 to be inserted, at which point I put the first CD in my disk drive, and after a few seconds it does some loading, then stops. I am then given the message "CDR101: Not ready reading drive Q" Now there is not a mark on the CD itself, and my CD drive works perfectly well, so I am at a complete loss.

When I abort the operation, it says that there is a "Glue parts error" then the number 5.

Will I have to buy a new copy of windows xp home edition? Will I have to buy another set of master CD's if possible? Or is there a manual way I can format/reset my PC?

    ANY help is much appreciated.

Gcowden - Welcome to the Board :)

Glue parts error - that's really novel - hardly computer or techspeak, but apparently it does exist :)

There are a number of threads relating to your Error message over at the Pachard Bell forums - I suggest you read through them .....
