I am visiting friends in London from Atlanta. They have broadband, and i didn't want to mess up their temporary internet files folder, so I copied it to a folder on the desktop, including cookies, figuring i would copy it back when I leave tomorrow (they left two days ago for Rome).

So I cleaned it out of my stuff, and went to copy their files and cookies back and it won't let me...and now i am afraid to turn it off for fear their stored cookies and passwords won't be there.

I opened the folder i created on the desktop, did select all and have tried to both 'move' and copy/paste and it doesn't allow it. What can i do? please reply here and send reply to mark@benerofe.net if possible

    Desperate. Much thanks.

The cookies that you copied were from \TIF?
Did you copy and remove them or just copy them?
When you "got rid" of yours, how did you delete the \TIF?

If you didn't do anything with the \Cookies folder AND didn't delete the cookies from \TIF, then all of THEIR cookies should be alive and well in \Cookies.

If you deleted the Cookies in the \TIF folder after you copied them, you did not REALLY save the cookies. What you save were the pointers to the real cookies that are store in \Cookies. And when you deleted them in \TIF, you deleted the real cookies in \Cookies.

As for all of the rest of the junk in \TIF, there is no reason to even care about it, since it will reload on the next visit to that site. And as for the Cookies, this should not be the end of the world, and is a good housecleaning exercise anyway. Yes, passwords may have been lost, but passwords if they are important, should have been saved somewhere else as well.
