recently i lost the active desktop feature in win 98SE which i use to organize and hide icons on my desktop. All of the features in the toolbar quicklaunch are grayed-out. My folder options are grayed-out as well. How can I restore the active desktop and quick launch features without having to completely reinstall Windows 98SE?

In Control Panel choose Add Remove Programs and then
    Internet Explorer.
    Use the Repair option.

Or if you used MS TweakUI, make sure that IE4 enabled is checked on the IE4 tab.

Thank You for the response. Unfortunately, I had to reinstall Win98SE in order to resolve the problem. I lost two years of data because of this issue. Now I'm looking for a good Win 98 rescue program that will allow me to recover from the next Windows crash.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a good recovery program, if so please reply.
