    I have encountered various problems with my computer(windows 98SE) and I was wondering if these problems are linked to this message that periodically pops up as a window...it states....The UPD 5206.TMP File is linked to missing export SHELL 32.DLL: SH Path For Write A.
    Is this missing DLL file of great importance to the operation of win 98SE and if so how can I recover or restore this file?thanks again for any help you can advise me on.

    From memory, I think you can go:

    Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Information

    and then there's an option in one of the menus to 'verify system files' (or similar) that runs a program that checks all your system files and installs them from the cd if necessary

    Does the name of the file have a space between shell and 32 or is that a typo? Shell32.dll is a windows file that would cause a lot of problems if it was missing. More than likely you have the file, just not the right version of it. Some program is looking for the file and expecting to find something in it that's not there. Search your computer (using the find tool) for shell32.dll. How many does it find? Right click on each one it finds and choose properties and see what version it is. Do you know what program is creating the UPD 5206.TMP file?
